CAREGIVER/PROVIDER EDUCATION
There is no system and no single resource or manual with the information that parents of kids with chronic illnesses need.  Regardless of the type illness or condition - there are some universal experiences that kids and families encounter. I kept looking for the "What to Expect, When the Unexpected Happens..." or the Dr. Spock manual that would be a seminal resource for things like pill swallowing, pain management, alleviating anxiety during medical procedures, helping minimize discomfort during injections and blood draws, etc.  There is some great research out there, some tested best practices - but its hit or miss if parents have access to that information. I have worked with pediatricians, child life specialists, and psychologists to find those practices and research and to translate into family and kid friendly practices. Below is a module on pill swallowing being used by one of my daughter's medical teams as well as other families from one of my support groups.
