FOUNDER BIO

Picture

I am a healthcare advocate and a mom-ologist with on-the-mom training in infectious disease, hepatology, rheumatology, gastrointestinology, and glitterology.  I am also a healer and an artist.  I am the mama to two kids 14 and 15 living with rare and incurable diseases.  I also sit on the State of California's Children's Health Advisory Panel for Medicaid, the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Family Advisory Council & the Chronic Illness Clinic Advisory Council, serve as an ambassador for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and am getting certified as a Health Coach through the Duke School of Integrative Medicine's Health Coaching and the Center for Mind Body Medicine's certification programs so I can extend the reach of this work. I want all families who live with a chronic and life-limiting pediatric illness to have access to wellness resources.

I am the co-facilitator of the California Chapter of Little Lobbyists, facilitate a caregiver advocacy circle with ChildrenNOW,  sit on California's Medicaid Children's Health Advisory Panel (MCHAP), work with Family Voices of CA training and mentoring caregivers advocates,  just accepted a seat on the national board of Family Voices USA, provide a family perspective for UCSF government relations at the State and Federal levels; and also founded Kids & Caregivers a caregiver to caregiver support program. I am engaged with a bunch of other activities that are educating, empowering and mobilizing families like mine who have children living with disabilities served by medicaid programs.

I work in healthcare as a writer and data strategist supporting non-profit and safety-net healthcare entities.
In the past ten years, my team and I have helped secure over $100-million in grant funding, influenced international policy, and provided research for publications and speeches presented before the UN, WHO and the US Congress.  In my free time - I swim outdoors, make gratitools, sprinkle glitter, and choose hope. My favorite book ever (at least today) is Man's Search for Meaning.
